For over 50 years, LAF, formerly the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago, has provided free civil legal aid to people living in poverty in metropolitan Chicago. Member Duties : A Spanish speaking VISTA serving as the Immigrants and Workers' Rights Outreach Project Coordinator at LAF, formerly the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago, will assist with efforts to increase the agency's capacity to offer free legal services to low-wage workers throughout Illinois by informing these individuals about their rights in employment and other remedies that may be available to them for wage and overtime theft, human trafficking, and other significant mistreatment at work.

By organizing outreach throughout the state for staff, creating and revising outreach materials, plotting places and types of employment for outreach activities, and spearheading statewide meetings, the VISTA will increase the number of low-wage workers receiving information about their rights at work, help refer workers to the appropriate office to remedy a legal claim related to work, and empower workers to consider making claims for work-based violations.
